Dinámicas migratorias ilegales en la región del Darién, frontera colombo panameño (2022 – 2024)

Abstract

El objetivo de esta investigación es analizar las dinámicas migratorias ilegales en la región del Darién, frontera entre Colombia y Panamá, durante el período 2022 a 2024, con el fin de comprender sus causas estructurales, los actores que intervienen en el fenómeno y los impactos sociales, humanitarios, ambientales y de seguridad que genera. La metodología se basó en un enfoque cualitativo, sustentado en la revisión documental de informes académicos, reportes institucionales y literatura especializada, así como en el uso de marcos teóricos como las redes migratorias, la migración forzada y la frontera como construcción social. Los hallazgos muestran que el Darién se ha consolidado como un corredor migratorio transcontinental caracterizado por el control de redes criminales, la ausencia de una política binacional coherente y la persistencia de factores de expulsión en los países de origen. Se evidencian graves afectaciones humanitarias, con mujeres, niños y comunidades vulnerables expuestas a violencia y explotación, además de impactos ambientales como la deforestación y la contaminación hídrica. La investigación concluye que la respuesta estatal ha sido insuficiente y fragmentada, lo cual demanda una estrategia integral que combine control territorial, cooperación internacional y protección de los derechos humanos, con el fin de transformar esta frontera en un espacio de seguridad, desarrollo y dignidad.

The objective of this research is to analyze the dynamics of illegal migration in the Darien region, on the border between Colombia and Panama, during the period 2022 to 2024, in order to understand its structural causes, the actors involved in the phenomenon, and the social, humanitarian, environmental, and security impacts it generates. The methodology was based on a qualitative approach, supported by a documentary review of academic studies, institutional reports, and specialized literature, as well as the use of theoretical frameworks such as migration networks, forced migration, and the border as a social construction. The findings show that the Darien has become a transcontinental migratory corridor characterized by the control of criminal networks, the absence of a coherent binational policy, and the persistence of push factors in countries of origin. Serious humanitarian consequences are evident, with women, children, and vulnerable communities exposed to violence and exploitation, as well as environmental impacts such as deforestation and water pollution. The research concludes that the state response has been insufficient and fragmented, which demands a comprehensive strategy that combines territorial control, international cooperation, and the protection of human rights, in order to transform this border into a space of security, development, and dignity.
