This article analyzes the geopolitical factors influencing deforestation in the Colombian Amazon between 2020 and 2023, aiming to understand how power dynamics, strategic interests, and non-state actors transform Amazonian territories, reshaping sovereignty and environmental governance. Through a mixed-methods approach combining systematic literature review, bibliometric analysis, document analysis, and scenario modeling, the study identifies deforestation patterns linked to illegal economies, agribusiness pressure, institutional weakness, and lack of effective state control. The research reveals that deforestation is not merely an ecological issue but a geopolitical dispute over territorial control and strategic resources. Key findings include the fragmentation of sovereign power, territorial co-optation by armed groups, and the urgent need to articulate regional strategies for environmental security and recognition of indigenous governance systems.
