This article analyzes the effects of the diplomatic rupture between Colombia and Israel (2018–2025) on defense diplomacy and the capabilities of the Colombian Armed Forces. The objective is to assess the foundations of cooperation, examine the impact on technical assistance and military technology acquisition, and explore strategic alternatives considering the strategic gap left by Israel. The methodology applied a mixed approach with quantitative and qualitative phases, supported by documentary analysis, expert interviews, and evaluation matrices. Results show that the alliance enabled significant advances in technology transfer, interoperability, and tactical training, but also generated structural dependency that became evident after the 2024 rupture, affecting sustainment, modernization, and international credibility. The conclusions highlight the need to diversify alliances with Western and emerging partners, strengthen defense diplomacy, and consolidate a national defense industry to reduce vulnerabilities and achieve strategic autonomy.es_ES
