This article analyzes the influence of mining exploitation in the Orinoco Mining Arc on the security and geopolitics of the border between Colombia and Venezuela, aiming to understand its strategic relevance for organized armed groups operating in the region. Through a qualitative methodology based on documentary analysis, academic sources, international reports, and case studies, the research examines how illegal mining has reshaped the balance of power, weakened state sovereignty, and supported the expansion of transnational criminal networks. The findings reveal a territorial configuration marked by informal alliances among state actors, armed structures, and extractive companies, creating a hybrid and conflict-ridden governance environment.
